Our Story
Fermentation isn’t just food — it’s culture. It’s ancestry. It’s rebellion in a jar.
I’m Tracey — founder of We Are Cultured — and like most fermentation nerds, I didn’t set out to build a business or even a T-shirt brand. I just fell madly in love with the weirdness of it all.
The bubbling jars. The funk smells. The magical mould. The ever multiplying SCOBYs. And the sharp, tangy tongue-thrill of something alive that you helped create.
Once upon a time, I ran a small-batch micro-fermentary. (Ask me sometime about how many cabbages I shredded.) These days, I still ferment at home — but now, I design wearable love letters for people who know: fermentation is magic.
It’s patience. It’s microbes doing their thing while you trust the process.
And it's a reminder that good things take time — whether you're growing a business, a sourdough starter, or a life that feels like your own.
What We’re Really About
We make fermentation T-shirts for people who get it. People with kitchen counters crammed with their latest batch of kombucha and kilner jars fizzing with kimchi and sauerkraut. People who name their SCOBYs and sourdough starters. People who quietly light up when they meet another member of the cultured club.
This is slow fashion for slow food lovers.
This is streetwear for kitchen witches.
This is for the ones keeping old traditions alive in tiny, ordinary ways.
Why? Because Fermentation is Punk.
It's thrifty. It's ancient. It's resilient. It’s a little weird. And it's absolutely worth celebrating.
